How did you get into netball, or have you always been into sport?
Yeah, always been into sport so when i was younger my mum used to play and i remember being a little tot and watching her as we couldn’t get a babysitter, so I think I I’ve always just been really keen to get involved and she just took me to a club when i was about 8 years old i think and I’ve just played since
Did you play with your mum ?
No, I’ve never actually been in a team with my mum. I’d love to do something but i think we’ve missed that i think. She does walking netball now so maybe i’m tempted to go and join a walking netball tournament one time
I bet she’s so proud. How do you think it makes her feel watching you?
She is proud and she loves it she loves netball herself so i think its been really cool for her to see the journey I’ve been on and she’s supported me loads with it always ferrying me around i used to train on a Friday night so every Friday she would go and take me she’s always been really supportive
Any advice for young girls trying to get into netball?
I think that it’s really important to just know what you’re good at and just go hard with that and don’t compare yourself to other people, every player is different and when you start looking at other players it might make you feel like i’m not doing that but just know what you’re good at and what you can bring
What does a typical day in your life look like?
A typical training day would start with going to the gym to do weights. I will then head back for lunch, may do a bit of coaching in the afternoon, then back to Loughborough for evening team training.
How do you relax / what do you do in your downtime?
I like to spend time with my friends and family. I love nature and getting outside, especially taking my parents dog for a big walk.
Tell us about your favourite Sporting Experience
Best experience was the Commonwealth Games 2018, it doesn’t get much better than beating Australia in the final by one goal on the buzzer for the first time in England’s history!
If you were not an athlete, what would you do?
I did accounting and finance at Uni so probably something in a business somewhere looking at numbers – glad I got to play netball instead!
Are there any specific goals or aspirations you have for your future, both within and outside your career?
I would like to have a full season playing netball and getting back to my best. I’m also looking forward to starting a job as a P.E teacher in September, and one day having a family!
Why’s it important to be an advocate for tall women in fashion?
Growing up I used to be a bit self conscious of being tall, however being a part of netball and around tall women it’s made me love it. It’s good to be an example to young girls growing up that it is good to be tall and to be confident with it.
